Report: Exec says Finland’s Fortum finds buyers for Russian assets
HELSINKI, Aug 31 (PRIME) -- There are at least two potential buyers for Russian assets of Finland’s power company Fortum, but a permit from the Russian authorities is still to be received, Chairman of the board of directors Veli-Matti Reinikkala told Ilta-Sanomat newspaper on Wednesday.
“Fortum is so big that the issue can reach the president. We cannot appraise the possibility, or if there is some price reduction depending on the buyers or factors that are independent from us,” he said.
Fortum, the owner of Russian power utilities Fortum and Unipro, decided to leave the Russian market and sell its local assets in May. But on August 5, President Vladimir Putin issued an order to block all deals on the company’s assets.
